If you have a student who benefit from brain breaks and instructions being broken down into simpler steps, this may help.

This has worked wonders in my classroom. Some students enjoy breaking task steps down for themselves and enjoy monitoring their progress. Other students may need a little more guidance.

The student and I decide on what their brain break will look like and how long it will be.

Seeing pictures of the brain and telling it directly what to do gives the student more agency and they can feel accomplished as they tick it off.

I also explain how challegning the brain helps with caring fro the brain as your brain would be VERY bored if it had nothing to do. It keeps healthy with a balance of challenges and breaks.

Encourage your students to take charge of their learning, keep balanced and enjoy their time at school!
